Season & Licence Information

General Information

Ireland is divided up 7 regional fisheries boards, each with the licence/permit fees for their own part of the country. This division is something often overlooked by visiting anglers who may aquire one permit and assume it applies to the entire country. In addition, certain waters in any location may fall under the Jurisdiction of a local club, requiring a club permittion / a club permit to fish. With all this in mind, its a good idea to "phone ahead" and check the situation of whatever waters you intend to fish.

Local Licences & Permits

Monaghan is located in the Eastern Regionsand is on the border of the northern region, requiring all anglers to obtain a share certificate which is only relevant to that region.
In addition to that, should you wish to fish in a club water, additional permits from the relevant club will be required. In some regions other permits may be required depending on the fish you are after.(Salmon etc). Given the complexity of the situation it is always advisable to check with the local fisheries board or fishing shop to determine what permits / licences you require for the water you intend fishing.

Club Waters

Within the Monaghan area, the following clubs operate and issue individual permits.
